Jesus, Mark Chapter 4, Mark 4:38, Jesus commands the storm, Powerful God,

Audio version:

Boat - Ocean night.

That's a routine journey, disciples got used to sailing on water masses, expecting a comfortable move, with saviour Jesus in the boat.

And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship so that it was now full.

And he (Jesus) was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? - Mark 4:38

Read this again!

Master, carest thou not that we perish?

They saw, frightened, assumed to perish, and questioned. We all were into this cycle. When life loses balance, the saviour's silence bothers us.

Assuming to drown, perish, we overwrite faith with fear, turning all the prayer vocabulary from simple to interrogative. In such a terrible situation, we often find our fear is natural, valid, reasonable, and not a pointless one.

but listen to what God says to us in return;

And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

Read this again and again!

How is it that ye have no faith?

The situation demands maximum fear, but God expects minimum faith. Jesus is in the circle, and found no point to fear, having himself around.

Still unbelief? Ok, see what he did to strengthen your faith.

And he (Jesus) arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. -Mark 4:39

Can we imagine the extent of God's control over his creation? - "Break an atom into a million pieces, and each will obey God's command!"

God is more accurate than physics, he knows what's going on around you, and can control the ocean with his nose.

The channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils. - Psalm 18:15

Then why should we fear? No weapon that is formed against us shall prosper says the Lord in Isiah 54:17

The faith which limits the power of God will leave us in fear. A real faith fore-sees the final calmness even before the storm starts.

Invest faith and collect miracles. They back your faith, in the long run, encourages you to trust him even if a star falls on earth.

Fear not; for God is with you today, saying;

When you pass through the waters,
    I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
    they will not sweep over you.
 -Isiah 43:3

A solid miracle happened, now, the disciples;

They feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him? - Mark 4:41

Wind and Sea Obeying? Yes, heaven is his throne, and the earth is his footstool. Then how a Sea and Wind can escape his control?

Final Words:

Jesus' promise to protect us is not simply a statement, but a never-ending reality that can overwrite the laws of nature, just to fulfill his promise.

In fear, we may question him. But he turns our questions to exclamations. And he repeats this until we stop questioning, doubting, and limiting him.

Storms may hit you. God may appear sleeping and silent, but Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

 The Lord is our keeper: the Lord is our shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

The Lord shall preserve us from all evil: he shall preserve our soul.

Amen!
