Spiritual senses, Holy Spirit, Speak to Jesus, How to talk to God, God Speaks

Spiritual senses.

Yes, they exist, In every Christian life, these spiritual senses play a crucial role in communicating with God, in spirit. Like the way we feel physical touch, smell, sight, hearing, and taste, We do respond in spirit too, but with diverse entities.

John, in the book of revelation, got most out of his senses in spirit, had seen, spoken, got a touch, thereby, the benchmark of spiritual senses can be seen in the entire book.

Someone could only say methods to communicate with God, like reading scriptures, expecting visions and dreams, listening to sermon, etc. But no human can really explain the mechanism behind the communication. It is supernatural. For now, following the methods and showing obedience to God can only save us from eternal death.

Sense of Hearing:

Hundreds of active and working physical ears are listening to him. Yet Jesus says “Who hath ears to hear, let him hear”  - Matthew 13:9. The context he is speaking about is something beyond the physical ability to hear.

He wants us to hear him, like the way he heard his father when he's in the physical body. John 5:30, "I can of mine own, self do nothing: as I hear, I judge".

I always wonder how sheep respond to their own shepherd's voice. The unique sense to identify is not something they got on their own. God put that. We didn't have the sense to hear God, but we can receive by asking God.

My sheep hear my voice”, John 10:27.

He wants to speak. We need to tune our inner ears and seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit to hear his powerful, comforting, and soothing voice.

Sense of Sight:

Visions, dreams are the pictorial communications of spirit.

John 5:19, "what he seeth the Father do; for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise". Jesus saw his father works with inner spiritual eyes. Stephen in apostles 7:55, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up steadfastly into heaven, saw the glory of God, where no one around has not seen. In Apostles 10:11, Peter saw “heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him”.

We could see, these senses open up, exclusively for those who believe in God. Non-believers, they too have these senses, but not in their control. Whatever comes into mind, they do.

So Paul says, “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not”. Hence there are some eyes that can be blinded where physical eyes can be good.

When Saul was blinded, God again gave the vision in prayer. Hence, praying Jesus opens up our inner vision in the perspective of God. From then, Saul was called Paul.

Sense of Touch:

The woman who was diseased with an issue of blood in Matthew 9:21 - “For she said within herself, If I may but touch his (Jesus) garment, I shall be whole”, and Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole.

Multitudes are falling by and touching him. But only the touch of faith made him turn back. He felt in spirit, not in body.

This clearly demonstrates the difference between physical touch and something with faith packed.

Keys To Enable These Senses

Repentance is the first key.

We can hear only if God speaks, we see, only if he shows. So it all starts with God. Break and keep your heart clean in front of God.

Isiah 59:2 says "But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you so that he will not hear."

After repenting, keep faith in the word, and pray. This is the second key.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” - Hebrews 11:1

As we talked about before, the sheep didn't have the sense on their own. God put that. Submitting our senses and asking Jesus to take control can make a big change in our journey. In time, we will see ourselves being unstoppable in knowing God's will.

May Lord gives us ears to hear his voice, eyes to see his glory, touch to sense his presence. Amen!
